Sveza Completes Five-Year Sustainability Program
In 2019, Sveza adopted a long-term development strategy through 2030, based on global best practices and circular bioeconomy principles. That same year, the company joined the UN Global Compact, publicly committing to international standards of corporate responsibility and environmental stewardship.
Over five years, Sveza implemented a comprehensive sustainability program covering climate action, resource efficiency, social investment, and responsible governance. From 2019 to 2024, total Scope 1 and 2 emissions fell by 28%, with direct emissions down 38%. A key driver was the transition to in-house renewable energy generated from wood residues, which enabled a 57% reduction in natural gas use. Renewable energy sources now account for 74% of the company’s energy consumption.
Sveza also delivered strong progress in resource efficiency. By 2024, 95% of all waste generated consisted of wood byproducts, which are either used internally for energy generation or sold. The waste-to-landfill rate declined by 44%, while water consumption went down by 35%. Annual spending on climate adaptation initiatives exceeded 500 million rubles.
As part of its reforestation programs, Sveza planted more than 1.5 million seedlings last year. These efforts support forest carbon sequestration and biodiversity, as well as reinforce the company's climate and resource performance.
In 2019–2024, Sveza increased its social investments elevenfold, reaching 111 million rubles in 2024, while channeling more than 5 billion rubles—both its own funds and local government contributions—into local infrastructure, education, healthcare, and sports.
The company’s tax contributions also grew significantly over five years. In 2024, Sveza paid 4.3 billion rubles in taxes, up 4% from the previous year and 19% higher than in 2019.

Alongside its environmental transformation, Sveza continues to invest in people—its key asset and the basis for long-term growth. The company continues to develop mentoring and succession programs, support multi-generational family employment, embrace modern training approaches, and promote employee well-being. In 2024, nearly 3,500 employees completed corporate and professional in-person training programs, with investments in employee development exceeding 150 million rubles. Employee engagement went up to nearly 80%, satisfaction with career opportunities rose to 83%, and the share of women in leadership positions reached 44%.
In 2024, Sveza was named among Russia’s 15 most socially responsible companies by RAEX and received an “A” rating for ESG risk management.
The 2024 Sustainability Report was prepared in line with GRI and SASB standards and includes ESG performance trends for the period 2019–2024.
