Sveza confirms compliance of its birch plywood with Russian GOST standards

Amid structural changes in the wood-processing sector, Sveza is focusing on strengthening its position in the domestic market. Verifying GOST compliance is a key step in this strategy.
Sveza has obtained the certification for two types of plywood: regular birch plywood (Interior and Exterior) and film-faced plywood, widely used in construction, furniture production, vehicle manufacturing, and packaging. All certified products will carry a special green label on the packaging and sheet marking, giving customers confidence in the product’s origin and compliance.
“Sveza has historically manufactured plywood in accordance with its corporate standard, which includes a broader set of specifications than the current GOST standards. The addition of GOST-compliant plywood expands our portfolio of specialized products designed for projects with specific customer requirements. Today, Sveza produces over 30 types of customized plywood products, including options with tailored veneer specifications and compositions, as well as special adhesive formulations and pressing regimes,” said Olga Kukut, Head of Process Development and Quality Assurance at Sveza Group.
The certification process included laboratory testing of plywood for compliance with strength, dimensional stability, face quality, and other technical parameters. The quality of the outer layers, known as the ‘face and back veneer,’ was a key focus, as it is a critical criterion under GOST.
Sveza’s production process remains unchanged: the company continues to manufacture plywood to meet high standards for both the domestic and international markets. At every stage, a strict internal quality control system is applied, comparable to systems used in demanding industries such as mechanical engineering.
“GOST compliance not only expands our market opportunities but also opens the door to projects with mandatory certification requirements, including government procurement, infrastructure projects, and state-funded construction programs,” added Andrey Golik, Head of Sales for the Domestic Market at Sveza Group.
