Sveza reports export growth to African markets

“The African market is both promising and challenging. Deliveries can take weeks or even months, and shipping costs account for a significant share of the final product price. Nevertheless, our plywood remains in high demand in the African construction and furniture sectors. In addition, government support measures help offset part of the costs, enabling us to further develop this export market,” said Alexey Lyapunov, Head of Sales for Africa at Sveza Group.
Demand is driven primarily by the construction and furniture sectors. Despite premium positioning, African customers show strong interest in Sveza’s full range of plywood solutions—from regular sizes to film-faced brands. The company’s products are valued for their durability and reliability, the qualities which help customers reduce long-term costs and are often decisive when selecting a supplier.

Government support programs, including export insurance and reimbursement of certain expenses, provide additional momentum for export growth.

Logistics remain the key challenge for Sveza. Shipments are made exclusively by sea, with delivery times ranging from two weeks to three months, depending on the destination. Freight costs may represent up to 40% of the final product price, significantly affecting the economics of exports and requiring innovative solutions from carriers and market players.
